A serious taste of home is only a couple clicks away. We are proudly now shippingIrish bacon packed at our counter on 41st Street in Sunnyside, Queens, and can be in a fridge in California the next business day. The Butcher Block opened January 4, 1995 in our humble store in NYC. Alongside the butcher counter and the deli, our aisles are stocked with groceries from Ireland and Britain, and you can now order Irish food online from our shop and have it shipped anywhere in the contiguous United States.
When Robert Sietsema wrote about us for Eater NY in January 2020, he described walking through aisles of imported groceries on the way to the deli counter, and said our Irish breakfast sandwich left him with “a new respect for traditional Irish cuisine.” Your order is picked from those same aisles.
Noel Gaynor founded The Butcher Block, and over three decades the shop has grown into a full butcher and deli with a grocery under the same roof. Noel still works the deli counter regularly. A lot of what we stock is hard to find in American supermarkets.
Barry’s Tea Gold comes in a box of 80 bags for $7.99. We also carry the Irish Breakfast blend and the Decaf box, with PG Tips and Lyons on the shelf beside them.
The Tayto Cheese and Onion 6 pack is $6.99, and we stock Prawn Cocktail, Smoky Bacon, Beef and Onion and Salt and Vinegar too, along with Hunky Dorys in a few flavours.
The Cadbury Flake 4 pack and the Cadbury Crunchie 4 pack are $4.99 each. These are the Irish and British recipes, which differ from American Cadbury.
For the cupboard, the Bisto box is $13.99 and covers a good few Sunday dinners. Fruitfield Marmalade is $4.99, and Folláin Jam and Marmalade comes from a family business in West Cork.
Donnelly’s Back Bacon is $7.99 and Donnelly’s Breakfast Bangers are $8.99. Both ship nationwide, along with Glen Ri back bacon and the black and white puddings from Donnelly’s and Glen Ri. We freeze these before they leave the shop and send them by UPS Next Day so they arrive cold. Put them in the fridge or freezer as soon as the box arrives.
Bread goes the same way. Pat the Baker Buttermilk Soda Bread is $7.99, and we also carry Brennans batch loaves and McCambridge soda bread, including a gluten free loaf. Bread freezes well, so a loaf can go in the box with your bacon for the weekend fry.
The meat we make ourselves stays in Queens. Our own rashers, our hand made sausages, our blood pudding, the steak and kidney pies, the steak and Guinness pies and the sausage rolls are all made in the shop and sold at the counter or through DoorDash. We keep these for the neighbourhood and do not ship them.

Orders leave the shop Monday to Wednesday. Anything ordered later in the week goes out at the start of the following week.
Chilled food such as bacon, pudding, bread and butter is frozen for two to three days, then sent by UPS Next Day. Everything in one order travels in one box at the Next Day rate, so cupboard items are cheaper sent as a separate order by UPS Ground.
UPS works out the shipping cost at checkout from your address and the weight of the box. We ship to the contiguous United States only and cannot deliver to P.O. boxes. The full terms are in our shipping and delivery policy.
Yes for imported brands such as Donnelly’s and Glen Ri, which ship frozen by UPS Next Day. The rashers and sausages we make ourselves are sold in Sunnyside only.

Yes. Pat the Baker soda bread and Brennans batch loaves ship frozen by UPS Next Day. Keep them in the freezer and take out a loaf as you need it.
Yes. Phone the shop on (718) 784-1078 and we will have your order ready at the counter. We are open daily from 8AM to 7PM, closed only on Christmas Day.
