Our Story

The Butcher Block opened in 1995 as a small butcher shop in Sunnyside, Queens, and quickly became a neighborhood favorite for Irish breakfast sandwiches, beef stew, shepherd’s pie, and imported Irish crisps, candies, and sodas. In August 2003, a fire next door destroyed our original store, but with the support of this community we rebuilt and reopened at 43-46 41st St in Sunnyside, where you will still find us today.

Now a full Irish butcher, deli, and grocery store, we offer fresh cuts and prepared meals for local pickup and delivery, and we ship imported Irish groceries nationwide. Local press has covered our story over the years, linked below. Stop by our Sunnyside store to see what has kept this neighborhood coming back for over 30 years.
